Certification Process
Volunteers are essential to community work. MWoV engages volunteers in ways that are clear, respectful, purposeful, and fun! We value people’s time and ensure that volunteers understand their role, responsibilities, and impact.
Volunteer involvement may include:
- service and outreach support
- administrative or operational assistance
- leadership and governance-related contributions
- short-term or project-based engagement
Volunteering with MWoV means contributing in ways that support both the mission and the structure that sustains it.
Volunteer Certification and Recognition (PVSA-aligned Community Awards)
Learning, service, and recognition are stewardship value-adds—not add-ons.
Men and Women of Vision is a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)—a national recognition program established in 2003 to honor sustained volunteer service. PVSA is currently on a temporary administrative pause under AmeriCorps, which affects the ordering of PVSA-branded awards.
However, this pause does not stop volunteer service, hours-tracking, or community recognition.
MWoV will continue to track, verify, and certify volunteer service hours using the PVSA framework and eligibility standards as part of our own Community Recognition Program. Volunteers will be honored through MWoV Community Awards presented locally at the end of the first quarter of each year beginning in 2027. When PVSA-award ordering and processing resume, eligible service hours will be submitted in the appropriate format. In the meantime, though, the MWoV Volunteer All-Star Service Awards Program is already underway and in effect!
Individuals and Organizations can use the simple guidelines below to start having their hours certified and recognized for 2026.
- 2026 service year (hours tracking begins): January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026
- Community recognition ceremony: March 2027
- Individual and Community Awards Leader Board: A fun and exciting way to track and showcase Individuals and Organizations that are making a difference (Coming Soon!)
- PVSA submission: Upon program resumption
Volunteer basics: Ages 5+; U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.*
For volunteers, this recognition reflects real commitment and documented service. For organizations, this strengthens volunteer retention, improves documentation, and provides recognized service records that support reporting and community trust.
